Overview:

This presentation is designed to help you think clearly and effectively during an emergency or crisis situation. You will learn how first responders think, evaluate, and act quickly to mitigate emergency scenarios.  This insight will help you respond in a calm and rational manner if and when an emergency arises. You will also learn how to identify safety issues before they become an emergency.   

December 13th from 12-2pm 

Objectives:

  • Understanding the stress response and how to overcome it during a crisis situation 
  • How to identify safety issues in your program or facility 
  • Speaking to children in an age and ability appropriate way about how to respond in an emergency 

Trainer Biography: Ben Wozney is a 26 year veteran of the Fire Service retiring as Fire Chief in 2021. During his career, Ben served on the Special Rescue Team as a Diver and technical rescue specialist.  As a member of the Public Education Team, he has presented numerous safety presentations across the state and worked with state officials to develop joint active shooter response and training for first responders. Ben attended Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Non-For-Profit Management where he studied Leadership and Business Innovation. He currently works for the Wilmette Park District as the Lakefront General Manager at Gillson Park.
