Bloodborne Pathogens

This interactive session teaches staff who work with youth how bloodborne pathogens are spread, how to avoid exposure and what to do if exposed to infectious material. You will learn the types of blood borne pathogens, where they are found and universal precautions. This training assists in satisfying the training requirements of the US Department of Labor, OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard (29 CFR.1920.1030).

Objectives:

Staff will understand

  • What bloodborne pathogens are and how they are transmitted.
  • How to protect yourself and others to blood borne pathogens.
  • What the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) law requires if a staff member is exposed on the job.

 The session will be facilitated by IAN Trainer Leslie Hampton, Operations Director, Health and Nutrition, YMCA of Metro Chicago.

Registration Information: You must pre-register for this training. IAN training policy states that participants arriving after the 15 minute grace period will not receive a training certificate and may be asked to leave if seating is not available.
