
Engaging and Empowering Parents in Your Out of School Program
Your out-of-school time program cares for children and youth, which means you are partners with parents. Investing in that relationship may have barriers, but the rewards can’t be underestimated. Authentically Engaged Families which has been widely accepted by many in the education and out of school fields. In this event you will create an actionable plan for parent and family engagement in your program. You will leave with tools to collaborate, communicate and resolve conflicts which will benefit your staff and the children and youth in your care.
Objectives:
• Provide an overview of family engagement principles and benefits for OST
programs
• Gain an understanding of culturally competent and trauma-informed family
engagement practices that empower parents and create healthy relationships with
providers
• Explore challenges and solutions of in-person and virtual engagement strategies
