Two Part Training Series Facilitated by Dr. Willie Williams
FREE and Virtual
Wednesdays, September 3rd and 10th from 10am to 12pm
Afterschool programs are in a unique position brought about by artificial intelligence. This engaging two part workshop breaks down the fear surrounding the use of AI by examining its development from curiosity to the classroom. Participants will discover how asking the right questions can lead to deeper learning and how AI can be used as an additional tutor for youth who are having trouble with language, reading, or comprehension. This workshop will cover how to educate young people to become ethical navigators and creators of AI tools rather than just consumers. The objective is to empower young people to become proficient in AI as a future-ready skill set that opens up opportunities outside of the classroom.
Training Objectives:
- Participants will learn about the development of AI and its current applications in after school settings.
- Participants will determine the ethical risk of the use of AI and debunk popular misconceptions about its risks.
- Participants will examine how AI tools can be used to enhance language acquisition, comprehension, and individualized academic support.
- Participants will showcase how to use AI to create powerful prompts that encourage critical thinking and better questioning from students.
Audience:
Youth development staff servicing youth, including managers, coordinators, directors, and anybody excited to comprehend and engage with how AI may facilitate enjoyable and educational activities outside school
