Two Part Free and Virtual Training Series- Four Hours of training total

Tuesday evenings from 5-7pm

October 14th and October 21st

This two-part interactive workshop series is designed to introduce child care and before/after school providers to the concept of implicit bias and its impact on the children and families they serve. Participants will explore how unconscious attitudes and stereotypes can influence behavior, decision-making, and interactions—even with the best intentions. Through reflective exercises, real-world examples, and group discussions, providers will learn how to recognize implicit biases, understand their root causes, and develop practical strategies to create more inclusive and equitable environments for all children.

Workshop Objectives:

By the end of this workshop series, participants will be able to:

  1. Define implicit bias.
  2. Identify common sources and examples of implicit bias in child care and after school settings.
  3. Recognize how implicit bias can negatively impact children’s development, behavior expectations, and relationships.
  4. Practice strategies to reduce the influence of bias in decision-making, classroom interactions, and discipline approaches.
  5. Commit to ongoing self-reflection and inclusive practices that support equity and belonging for every child and family.

Audience: Family Child Care Centers, Youth Serving Staff, Coordinators, Managers and Support Staff
